For this full-body life study, I experimented with a medium I had not used before: conté pastel pencils. This medium has high saturation, and value is developed by applying several thin layers of tone and blending with mid-tones. The realism and depth achieved from conté give a sense of space, form and imply realism and three-dimensionality. For the background, instead of reproducing the table that the figure, Lucas, was posing on, I represented the shadows and highlights reflected on the table and the wall using yellow and blue.
