Identity Through the Archway, 2022
Acrylic on Wood Board
20 in x 16 in
A view of my dining room through the living room, the still-life painting Identity Through the Archway, manifests my identity. The foreground of the living room represents aspects integral to my person; religion, as signified through the painting of the Kaaba; education, symbolized through the book; and art, embodied in the artworks and paint tubes. The dining room seen through the archway represents my inner self; the light flooding the room through the sliding doors symbolizes my soul and connection to the Divine, while the plants signify my connection to nature. The chairs around the dining room and my pet birds' cages represent the importance of my family in my life. Through the window, the outside world is visible. The rose behind the blinds represents the nature of the world, disguising thorns beneath the beauty of a rose.
